Behind The Scene: Sourcing for Roadies

29 January 2016 · 7 Comments

Four months in a year all my time, attention and energy is dedicated to styling for Roadies. That my friends is no easy task. 1st of November to 1st of March my house looks like a godown, I look like a mess and my car looks like a badly managed retail shop. All said and done they are my most favorite months of the year. There are pretty much five steps I follow before I head out for my adventure.

  1. Decide each person’s look
  2. Make a lookbook
  3. Procure said looks from stores (the most difficult part)
  4. Bullying Rannvijay and Karan to do trials. (not so easy either)
  5. Packing (boohoo).

This year we travel to Bhutan. Yes, its very pretty but the weather is in minus degrees. Minus. I am one of those people who wear a sweatshirt in Mumbai to movie halls, restaurants, malls, pretty much everywhere. I am going to freeze. Coming back to more important things.

Did you know each judge and host of the show have to wear anywhere between 36 to 40 outfits. Considering I style Rannvijay Singh Singha, Karan Kundra and another host who this time is the adorable Gaelyn Mendonca – that makes the total number of outfits 120. When I say outfit I include sunglasses, shoes, belts, any form of accessories even headgear. And of course each article of clothing. Do you know what is the most challenging in this whole process? It’s getting Rannvijay to try 40 pairs of pants. Tweet and ask him if you think I’m kidding.

My trials start day after and I must say I’m quite excited! With the weather there being between 9 degrees to -15, jackets and warmers are a must. A three day trip to Delhi helped me out with quite a bit of winterwear. Above are the sneak peaks into 2 outfits each that you will catch them wearing on the show.

If you are a Mtv Roadies fan? Don’t miss out on our previous Roadies fashion posts.

P.S.: The outfit details have not been included in this post as the show has not aired on television yet. Stay tuned for more posts with more outfits and all details coming soon!
