It’s strange that I have talked about my favourite blogs, podcasts, music, TV shows, movies, Facebook pages, Instagram accounts, cafes, restaurants, fashion documentaries and books but not yet listed out my favourite YouTubers! I do watch a lot of You Tube. I probably don’t watch it everyday, but maybe an hour or so 1 or 2 days a week. I watch very specific accounts. I make sure I don’t go into a You Tube black hole most of the time. The topics across which I watch YouTube videos covers fashion, zero waste living, minimalism, sustainability, style, skin care, beauty and travel. I also think most of the YouTubers I watch are a little interlinked – I like watching videos with lifestyle tips, tips on how to save money, shop less, live simpler, style inspiration and so on. This post has a list of these YouTubers and includes one of their videos I enjoyed.
1. Recipes – Madeline Olivia
It’s not that I only watch her recipe videos, I really like her general sustainable living videos as well. I have made a number of her recipes and they are mostly quick and cheap but healthy and fun. Mostly importantly they are doable and not that special that you make it once and are totally drained with the effort with no interest to make again. One of my favourite videos is her one with different ways of cooking oats. I didn’t like the savoury oats but liked the baked oats and I eat the overnight oats everyday.
2. Style – Jenny Mustard
I feel Jenny Mustard is my twin – not in the way we look (at all!) but I pretty much have the same thoughts and opinions as she does. Every time I watch any of the videos I keep nodding emphatically. Her partner and she make the most beautiful videos. I started following her for her fashion and styling content but have totally gotten suckered into her minimalism and everything else. I even listen to their joint podcast every Monday! Their videos are the perfect choice for style inspiration.
3. Sustainable Living – Sustainably Vegan
I love her voice. She is such a calming influence. Her videos are very informative and she is London-based so it’s very helpful for me. I get a lot of zero waste information from her and find her tips very useful. I also like her book recommendations although hers definitely veer a lot towards topics covering the environment and sustainability than I read myself. I like how she shows her day-to-day life trying to live zero waste. Although she is extremely committed and way ahead of the curve, she doesn’t get too down when things don’t work out and I like that somewhat relaxed attitude.
4. Outfit Inspiration – Best Dressed
Ashley from Best Dressed is a recent discovery for me but I almost binge watched all her videos one night. She is extremely funny and extremely talented. I loved her outfit inspiration videos and like how she isn’t that focused on buying new clothes like most other younger YouTubers. Her fashion is a usually a little young for my taste but can always be adapted to your style. What really comes across from her videos is her love for fashion and styling – not just shopping with cheap fast fashion clothing hauls (something I detest watching).
5. Environment Activism – Shelbizleee
Shelby is almost the opposite of Immy from Sustainably Vegan and she is great. I was actually introduced to her thanks to a collaboration video they did together. She is very sharp, opinionated and I love her activism. She does some very interesting videos where she does plastic audits on people around her and otherwise in her life which is interesting to see. I also like her anti-haul videos calling out wasteful products being manufactured which is a great eye-opener. One particular video she made sent chills down my spine. – it’s one embedded above.
6. Style Tips – Nikki Sky
Now her style is quite different from mine. But her style tips are universal! She has some very clever styling hacks and ideas and I really enjoy her videos. Also really like her no-nonsense style.
7. Skin care – Caroline Hirons
This is not the first time I have mentioned Caroline Hirons on my blog – she is amazing! If you are interested in skin care you need to check out her YouTube. She is very influential in the beauty and skin care industry and her skin cheat sheets are great. Her videos are very helpful to guide you to a suitable skin care routine.
8. Environmental Information – Our Changing Climate
Every odd, curious, random thought or question I have about our environment, ethical buying, zero waste, minimalism and so on is answered by these YouTubers. You may remember their video from my previous zero waste post. So much good, solid information to guide you to help you navigate what appears to be this zero-win world of zero-waste.
9. Clothing and shopping Information – Justine Leconte Officiel
Her channel is what I called geeking out over fashion. How do body shapes work and how can you dress for your body shape? How to buy good quality clothes? How do you even recognise good quality clothing? What brands are worth it? Are French women really more fashionable? Every niggling question you have about fashion, styling, dressing and shopping is covered in her videos.
10. Makeup reviews – Stephanie Nicole
I don’t think there is anyone on YouTube who does more thorough and detailed reviews. Her interest and knowledge of ingredients is amazing. Although I am not too interested in the makeup part of it, I do enjoy her skin care review videos. Apart from the products reviewed they are a major knowledge source about skin care – bordering on a chemistry class! Since it’s summer now I am leaving you guys with her sunscreen video which is so informative.
11. Minimalism and Fashion – A Small Wardrobe
I really enjoy her minimalist style and feel her style is quite similar to mine. Her videos are a mix of fashion and minimalism which I really enjoy watching.
12. Makeup Tips – Lisa Eldridge
I’ll be honest – I don’t think I have ever tried to actually recreate any makeup look form any of her videos. I am not much of a makeup person but the little bit about makeup that I have managed to learn is all thanks to her. I like her common sense, scientific approach to makeup and her new set of lipsticks are gorgeous.
13. Travel – Sorelle Amore
Her photos are gorgeous, her energy is crazy and her tips are fantastic. I do love her Instagram tips and tricks but honestly, I am not going to end up spending so much time on Instagram to improve it since I don’t care to too much about it so its her travel posts that I really love. Her travel is quite basic and a lot more budget based than what I usually see on YouTube but still her pictures are gorgeous and most importantly, she looks like she is having SO MUCH FUN!
14. Money, Spending and Saving – The Financial Diet
I sometimes think the Financial Diet is more American based or more suited for those living in the USA. Some of their videos on budgeting and spending seem pretty basic to me but I am extremely cheap frugal by nature so maybe that’s why they don’t impress me too much. However, once you dig in they have great tips and show you new angles on how to stretch your budget and basically shop better.
15. Skincare ingredients – Hyram
So that’s my list done for now. I hope you guys enjoy this post. Do you watch any of these YouTubers?
