I have been thinking of renovating our kitchen space so when Furnish Your Home told me about the Ideal Home Show I decided it would be a good place to get some inspiration as well as information. Off we went!
Outfit details: Faux fur red coat from HM (almost exactly the same one is still available!), white jeans and white cable-knit jumper (similar) from PLT, white Stan Smiths from Adidas, baker boy hat and Chanel bag.
This was in the Kensington Olympia and its a HUGE space.
Anything and everything that you can think of in relation to your home is there at the ideal home show, from furniture, to kitchen cabinets, storage ideas, bathrooms, showers and bathtubs, living room drapes and carpets, kitchen appliances, taps, filters, mortgage advice and brokers, fencing and walls and gardens and we even saw a tandoor – which DJ totally wanted to get. This place has stuff you didn’t even think of but so much of it was so useful to see. Its given me a lot of ideas about my kitchen renovation. The planning of the renovation was something I was dreading – its so tedious but I was a bit upbeat about it as I left the show that day.
If you are already bored of hearing about my kitchen renovation (which hasn’t even started) I don’t blame you. But that also doesn’t mean I will shut up about it. So when I saw this drinks trolley at the Furnish Your Home stand at the ideal home show, I knew it would be perfect for what I have thought of for our kitchen. Its super convenient since it allows some level of flexibility. But what I had in mind is to make sure this is space within the kitchen cabinet built in to allow for this trolley to be positioned and it can just be brought out to show off when required.
And 100% I need these hanging lamps. These were at the Furnish Your Home stall as well and shown within a bar decor scene which is something I want to replicate for our kitchen counter. Can you imagine how chic something like this will look? You could of course replicate this in some other part of the home as well. Its definitely something that adds a bit of a chic factor!
And the last one, (I promise) was passing by these model kitchens and realising that yes, it is possible to have a darker kitchen. Let me explain. Its almost impossible to find a kitchen which isn’t light – white and bright seems to be the on-trend look for kitchens.
Now I am not saying I am completely sold on a totally dark kitchen but yeah, I definitely want a substantial part of it to be non-white. Its just not eye-catching or interesting enough. Also our kitchen is an open-plan one so its a part of our living room so its definitely something that requires a little bit more than just the basic white kitchen. (just loved this table layout below!)
So now lets the kitchen renovation begin! In case you have not had enough of my renovation ideas, read our other decor posts.
