On the occasion of our second birthday we wanted to do do a few posts about the blog. About how things really work, what is happening in the background – the little details that you don’t notice once a post is published. We felt our readers have the right to know what really went on behind the scenes. And this led to the question – how real is our blog? How much of what you see on the blog is really happening?
Planning: Fortunately or unfortunately, Fashion and Frappes does not have a set, organised editorial calendar. Most other bloggers do. We don’t have one for the simple reason that we have never felt the need for one. Three of us chat on Watsapp continuously so are always aware of what the other one is doing and when we are happy to post. We usually take turns posting but you would have noticed I post a lot more than those two. I like getting my ideas out as soon as possible lest I forget! The other reason we don’t have a editorial calendar is we enjoy the flexibility. There are times I have gone for an event and enjoyed it and wanted to post about it or rant about something in the moment! We feel we are more genuine and flexible without an editorial calendar. However, this is something we definitely want to work towards and be more organised in the future. We need to figure out a way to organised a calendar keeping in mind the flexibility we love.
Outfit Posts: So I understand there are bloggers who wear clothes just to click pictures in them. This is something I find quite absurd. Except maybe two or three posts where we were running late posting, we only wear clothes we wear in real life. Honestly, we don’t have time. And honestly, it would just feel absurd! We would not wear something only for a shoot. What you see is what we wear!
Photoshop: Our blog photography is not very professional and again, this is something we are keen to work on. Bidisha and me are completely hopeless at photoshop! Neither of us photoshop our images. Satarupa photoshops some of her pictures (and some of ours too when we beg her to do ours). But our editing and photoshopping is restricted to making our pictures brighter or blurring the background to ensure the outfit stands out. No part of our body is photoshopped! Although Satarupa had to photoshop some people out of our pictures when they are in the middle as well as remove some garbage on Versova beach – these are the photoshopped pictures!
Social Media: The one thing that might be unreal is that I don’t post pictures on our Instagram when I click them. I usually post once a day (sometimes twice), in the morning, while walking to work. Even if I take more pictures that day I only post them later probably the next morning. I might even store up a particular picture to post on a certain day. Like when I come across a picture that’s perfect for ‘throwback Thursday‘ I definitely save it for a Thursday!

I sometimes wear outfits just for shoots, that’s mainly because I want to shoot it there and then but it’s for an occasion I’m not going to that day!

I understand that Corinne – we do the same. But what I find strange is when people just get the clothes for a shoot and apparently return it back. I feel thats not genuine since they wouldn’t wear that in real life. Its supposed to be your style so I find that artificial.
