After that crazy exciting cricket finals, I think its now time for the regular fashion programming to continue. I realised I have been talking a lot about wearing the same clothes and styling the same dresses differently for different occasions but I haven’t actually shown this on the blog. So I decided to style my new (or rather somewhat new) Marimekko dress in four different ways (actually I have another outfit in mind but haven’t managed to take pictures of that so thats for Instagram later). So lets get to 1 dress 4 outfits.
I bought this dress from Marimekko in Helsinki. It is the Rajaton Vinokana dress. Although it is sold out now, there is a similiar one. I had really wanted to buy something from the store since its so iconic. It was really frustrating since they didn’t make a lot of clothes in my size. I really loved this dress as well but was way too big for me.
Also on second thought, knowing me, I know I would end up wearing this black and white geometric pattern (called the Vinokana) more often as compared to a large green and black floral pattern so all good.
Also of course, the dress ticked all the boxes for me:
✔️no fast fashion
✔️easy to wear
✔️black and white
To the office
What I liked about this outfit was the belt over blazer look which I love. I love wearing this to work especially in summer since the dress is cotton. I end up needing a blazer more for the office air conditioning.
For a summer picnic
It is totally to the credit of this dress that it looks perfectly at home at the office and in the park.
Its such a great dress for a picnic – loose in shape and perfectly breathable cotton.
On the streets
I swiped the black formal blazer for a leather jacket.
I wore this look a lot recently, its a great look for spring.
Love my snug (faux) leather jacket which makes it perfect for spring temperatures.
For a fancy dinner
The belt makes it look really elegant and formal instead of a fun easy summer dress.
I just piled on the silver – jewellery and shoe wise and it works.
Outfit details: silver heels (similar), statement bib necklace and envelope clutch.
I am not sure why DJ insisted on me posing fake hailing a taxi (something I have probably never done in London!) so there you have it!
Hope you enjoyed the pictures and idea behind this post. I really like the idea of wearing the same thing over and over instead of buying new clothes Let me know if you are one of those people who buy an outfit for an event? Are you trying to make sure your wardrobe works for all parts of your life? Let me know what your situation is and what you are aiming to achieve with your wardrobe. This is a conversation I am very interested to have!
