My clothing and bag review posts usually do very well so I am not sure why I stopped doing these? I have such a long line of items I would love to do review posts for but lets start with this chic Dune suede chain handle bag.
In all honesty, I have never bought a suede bag (or shoes) in London. I am scared since one unexpected shower and its ruined but there were so many reasons I just wanted this bag.
Why Dune?
I have always liked Dune and feel their pricing is fantastic for the quality of items. For instance, this bag – the suede is gorgeously smooth and feels much better quality than expected for the price. That perfect buttery feeling of suede. But at the same time, it didn’t feel flimsy. Its a structured bag and will stay in shape even without any any inserts.
I also like the fact it has feet – which is unexpected since its not a high end bag and even some of the fancy ones don’t which does annoy me to no end.
Why This Bag?
Lots of reasons, the main one being that I don’t have a bag in this colour and if you didn’t clock this already from the photo, it goes with my new Sezane coat perfectly. Like I said, I didn’t have anything in suede so did enjoy the smooth suede texture as well.
I am also a sucker for chain handles. I especially liked the slightly different rose gold colour of the hardware which is a little different than the standard gold hardware. I gripe though which is me being too fussy, I wish it wasn’t this shiny but slightly matt in colour.
I also like the fact the chain can be long and worn as a cross body or over the shoulder.
The Buying Experience
There was no real buying experience for me since Dune kindly offered to send me the bag, although I did choose this specific one. However, I did go into a few Dune stores since I wanted to see a few of their bags in real life, before choosing the one I wanted online. The catch with Dune is that their prices are immensely reasonable for how expensive the items look and how fancy their store is, if you know what I mean. I do think their stores are quite intimidating from outside but honestly, the sales assistants were lovely and I really enjoyed having a look around although I didn’t actually buy anything from the store. They had all the new winter stuff in and the boots looked so good.
I would definitely encourage you to walk into a Dune store (I went to the one in Liverpool Street Station in London) and take a look around. Might be a good idea especially this black Friday weekend since they seem to have some great deals.
The Outfit
The dress is a really old Zara one and one of the few things that still fits me. The mock neck black turtleneck is about a hundred years old and a hand me up from Bidisha. The coat, bag and shoes are brand new. You may remember my previous coat which I also reviewed. Let me know if you would be interested in a review of this Sezane coat and I’ll do one in sometime once I get a bit of wear out of it.
I loved the pairing of this very chic elegant bag with my tough biker boots. I love this kind of mix and match – its definitely my favourite kind of outfit.
Will I Buy Again?
I have bought shoes from Dune before and will probably buy again. Same with bags – I wouldn’t mind buying a work bag from them next time I need one. I am currently eyeing this one – its so simple but looks so good.
