Can one ever have too many bags? No it’s not a trick question, and the correct answer is – Yes! There is a point when you end up with one too many hand bags. You’ll know you’re there when you find majority of your handbags sitting and collecting dust on your shelves. A better approach would be to collect a few but versatile pieces that can be worn with a range of outfits – both day and night. Normally clutches or the more traditional evening bags are sort of relegated to be used only for parties or evening wear, but I’ve always wanted to try and wear them with regular outfits to see if can be done without looking mismatched. So when Jivaana asked us if we would like to try their new collection of designer bags, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a shot.
I picked out 3 bags from the Jivaana site, one each from their range of fashion bags, party wear clutches and designer potlis, and decided to style them with regular everyday outfits. I might have cheated a little bit on the last one, but in my defense it seemed like a crime to not pair it with one of our Zari saris 😛
Look 1: Using a vintage clutch/ Ethnic or Indian embroidered purse
This was the my favorite Jivaana bag of the lot and I love how the whole look turned out. The bag was in a gorgeous powder blue silk with gold embroidery. This is something I would normally only wear to a wedding. Probably without the chain, holding it like a clutch. So I decided to go the complete opposite route and wear it as a crossbody bag with distressed denims and a white oversized button down shirt. Added my new yellow heels for a pop of color. Pretty happy with the overall look and loved how much stuff I could fit in the bag as well.
Look 2 : Using A Sequined Clutch
Bag : Ivory Candy Satin Clutch
Outfit : Maxi dress from Zara (similar) and nude pumps from Mango
This is one pretty bag. Its one of Jivaana’s bestsellers. Love the colors on it, very summer appropriate! Also I really like the fact that it’s a true white. Most white bags when they turn up is usually a more off-white shade, but this is a true shimmery white. To play to that, I decided on an all white ensemble. I paired it with a boho crochet maxi dress, with no other accessories as the bag itself was quite ornate. I originally planned to wear flats with this outfit but the dress is a little too long for me and I haven’t gotten around to getting it altered yet.
Side note : What are your thoughts on this Zara dress? Most people seem to either love it or absolutely hate it. I obviously fell in love and had to get it, but Maddy still insists on calling it the mosquito net dress *eyeroll*
Look 3 : Using a Potli Bag
Bag : Peach Stars Potli
Outfit : Sari from Zari by Fashion and Frappes
Formal Dress: Katebridal
I am actually amazed at Jivaana’s collection of potli bags. So many and so cute! If you ever plan to wear a sari, a potli bag is a must. It adds such a fun touch and honestly is the best way to carry your phone or whatever other bits and bobs you need to carry around. I admit I cheated a bit here, this is not really a regular everyday outfit. But I just had to pair this potli bag with one of our saris from Zari by Fashion and Frappes. It ended up being a perfect match! Love how it turned out. Also I did wear this to my office Ethic Day celebrations and got tons of compliments on this look 🙂
Hope you enjoyed the pictures and the 3 looks. Let me know which one you are most likely to try. If you liked I am wearing the sari please go check out our store at Zari by Fashion and Frappes!
