A lot of the excitement of travel comes from the anticipation and the preparation. At least that’s definitely the case for me. I am one of those crazy people who research the place I am going for months, prepare itineraries, start packing weeks in advance, book restaurant, shows and plays months in advance and so on. I know this sounds excessive but personally for me this is part of the travel and something I enjoy doing. It wasnt different for our trip to New York next month so I thought I would make a quick post about how I am preparing for my New York trip!
So New York City isn’t exactly the most unknown place in the world. Even without ever stepping foot in the city, I feel like I know so much about the city.

New York Street Style
The timing of my trip could not be better since I will be in New York during New York fashion week. I definitely want to see I can catch any of the street style during fashion week. Seeing street style in the birthplace of street style would be amazing to see! This series of videos were amazing to watch since I love researching what people wear in different cities.
Rewatching my favourite New York based shows
You cannot imagine Sex and the City (duh, its in the name), Friends or Gossip Girl being based in any other city than New York. I have been rewatching Gossip Girl and don’t think I will ever get tired of it. (Also watched Friends on the flight and it still makes me laugh).
Borrowing New York related books from the library
Included in my trip prep is a visit to the library to pick up some guide books and some New York related books. I do love going through a Lonely Planet or other similar guide-book. You actually learn so much about the place and its nice to have a real physical guide-book to flip through.

Zero Waste
Ok maybe some of the boring practical stuff has to be included. Now I know being zero waste in the USA may not be easy but I am going to try. I am taking along my coffee mug and water bottle which are essentials for me. I will make sure to use these for coffee and water at least. The rest might not be easy – lets see. I also watched the video on living in New York posted by Immy from Sustainably Vegan. Its interesting to see the perspective of another visitor on her zero waste efforts in the city.
Shopping List
The clothing brands I plan to check out are those I mentioned here, Ann Taylor, Petite Studio, Aritzia and other American brands. I also want to check out and see Real Real, some vintage stores, the Buffalo Exchange and get some clothes from Realisation Par since it’s definitely cheaper than what it is in London
Instagram photos
Of course, like every good Instagrammer I have researched on the best photos to take in the city and will try to best to get this done!
By the time you guys end up reading this post I would already be in New York. So I will definitely keep you updated on what is happenening.
