Summer is here and its definitely making its presence felt, at least here in Bangalore. Scorching heat that makes you want to stay indoors all day, random thunderstorms that make trees fall on electricity poles and knock out your power and internet for 3 days kind of summer craziness is what we’re having right now.
Currently I seem to be going through a phase where I only want to wear these anti fit cotton dresses.
They have to be 100% cotton and they have to have sleeves. It might seems strange to want to wear sleeves in summer, but in this climate no matter how much sunscreen I slather on my skin burns if exposed for too long, so sleeves and hats it is.
I went shopping the other day and spent hours picking out cotton dresses that I can comfortably wear through out the summer no matter how hot it gets. It was surprisingly difficult find clothing that was pure 100% cotton.
I think I had to go to 6 or 7 different stores but I finally managed to get enough weather appropriate clothes for this intense heat. Let me know if you would want a post about shops that I frequent for pure cotton and sustainable clothes.
I am trying to be more conscious of the amount of stuff I buy and the first thing I need to get under control is how many clothes I buy and never wear more than once or twice.
That has got to change and Im trying really hard to pick only stuff that I know I can re-wear for a few years at least.
Its also not just the fashion or “on trend” aspect that is the problem here, these clothes have to be of a quality that will last for that long as well. That generally tends to make them more expensive, but if you think about it in the long run it will actually save you money since you won’t be buying so much.
So thats the plan for now, I’ll keep you posted on how easy or difficult it ends up being. Lots more of these summer dresses and OOTD posts coming up as basically thats all I’m wearing at this point 😀
