I love dresses. If I am not at work, I am probably in a dress. I counted how many I have. No, I am not going to disclose the number because then I will never be able to complain that I have no clothes. My extensive collection of dresses have made me a self-proclaimed expert on how to choose one.
Let me give you some basics on what to look for and how to choose your summer dress!
Colour – this is a no-brainer but go bright! Summer is all about fresh colours so if bright is not your game fresh pastels work just as well.
Comfort – heat and sweat are enough to make you cry, last thing you need is to be uncomfortable. Whatever your preference on design, pattern and cut, make sure you are comfortable!
Fabric – cottons, linen and other natural materials are great. These fabrics allow your skin to breath.
Details – an important thing is to also check the material of your dress lining. A cotton dress with a synthetic lining is completely pointless. Also make sure the lining does its job but is still light.
Be adventurous – try out different silhouettes. There are options from skater style, to flares, shirt dresses, shift and even body-con. Try something this summer that you would usually not wear!
Have a look at my earlier orange and white dress posts too! You should also check out Anisha’s tips on wearing black in the summer if you are ignoring my first rule!
