I have a lot of issues with shorts. The garment in general and with me wearing shorts. I didn’t realise how many thoughts I had about shorts till I started writing this post.
I have never been a fan of shorts even when I was a kid. They were never really great for playing in – your knees always got scraped. But I think swore off shorts after Bidisha wore a pair of black denim shorts most of her childhood. She got these denim shorts as a gift and loved them and wore them with a white tee with a bunny on it, alternating that with a white tee with a bear (or was it butterflies?) on it almost every day. I was so fed up seeing that I don’t remember wearing shorts after that!
Outfit details: Zara top with belt, black H&M leather shorts, dotted tights from Wolford, Chelsea boots from Zara (similar) and bag from Chanel.
Shorts were also not my favoured item of clothing since I was extremely weird about my legs! I have always thought my legs were not in proportion to my body and thought they looked too big and too pale. Of course, now I am a 32 year old woman and have real life to worry about so the exact colour and measurements of my legs and thighs are pretty low down on my priority list! Now I am completely happy to re-adopt shorts as an adult woman!
It was too hot and sunny to wear shorts in Bombay. (Wearing shorts and sun screen was just a mess- yuvk). London is always too cold to wear shorts but oddly shorts with tights became very convenient. The shorts with tights look is one I love! My favourite outfits are a combination of this look. I like the unexpectedness of it and how it doesn’t really make sense but still looks so well put together.
A weird thing is I am not fond of the very casual bordering on sloppy look that shorts are usually associated with. So while wearing shorts myself I always want to make sure its not a casual look (so denim shorts are usually not on the menu). I like shorts to be dressed up and look well put together.
