I have wanted to do a post like this for quite sometime. But honestly, till recently my handbag was not one that deserved any photography. It was this really huge old dirty bag I used to carry to work since it fit my gym stuff as well. I finally switched out my gym clothes to another bag (which, by the way, has been lying in office for a week and hasn’t seen the inside of a gym for quite sometime). So now I present to you my new handbag and whats in it.
Once I started writing this post, I realised its getting way too long. So I have broken this down into different aspects – this post covers the food I keep in my bag. For a makeup post, read Satarupa’s one.
I carry a lot of food with me to work everyday. Number one on the list is my flask of coffee. (Also, if you carry your own flask you get a 25 p off on your Starbucks coffee – another good reason to cut out the extra garbage.)
Other than my flask of coffee, I either carry a box of fruits (grapes, raspberries, blackberries) or an apple. Then Holland & Barrett sent me a fantastic basket of ‘goodies’. Goodies in quotes because this is not the traditional goodies you expect. Sorry – no muffins, no cake.
It has energy bars, a bag of dark chocolate, quinoa chips, coconut oil, rice cakes and so on. Yeah – definitely not exciting for a non-health food person like me. But they are so good! I think I might be exaggerating a bit since I was so surprised they don’t taste bad and well, some of it almost tastes good! So now along with my coffee and fruits, I carried along some of these bars and left a few of them at work. For me this is a major improvement on my 4 pm cake diet. I am definitely getting more of the Nakd bars. I tried the cashew and date one which I really liked so will be getting that one again, maybe along with the ginger one.
They also sent me a packet of green tea bags. Again, I have stashed this at work. I try and limit myself to two coffees a day so the green tea really helps. I also end up with a bag of popcorn from Pret everyday to munch on in the evening. I have now replaced this with a bag of quinoa chips. I know – sounds depressing , right? Well this was a part of my goody basket but I didn’t even get to taste it since my husband, DJ, finished the whole bag before I got home. The fact that DJ finished a bag of quinoa chips is the best advertisement for the product – trust me. To put it politely, he is very vocal about his hate for everything quinoa. So right now I am intrigued enough to go buy a bag to taste this and hopefully cut out the small bag of 99p salty popcorn I spend money on everyday.
Now I know this looks like a lot of food to carry in my bag. But I end up with a migraine everytime I am hungry so I make sure I have something to eat all the time. Also I usually carry a bottle of water as well. I think this a habit leftover from my Bombay days – you have to carry water in Bombay all the time – its so hot!
I am still going through the basket sent over and haven’t ended up using all the stuff – I will definitely update you guys if there is anything else I recommend! And let me know if you have any good ideas about snacks to carry in your bag – I always have place for more snacks!
As mentioned, the snacks were sent to Fashion and Frappes by Holland & Barrett as samples.

Thanks Cris! Please try some of them out. Even if you only like one or two its great for snacks. Slightly healthier than cake!
