Now in all honesty, there are days when I cannot survive without my Uniqlo heat tech tees. I pretty much wear them everyday to work or on the weekend and cannot imagine my life without these. And you know what? Thats ok. Please don’t deprive yourself of something you need to try and do some greater good – that doesn’t help anyone. But now for the rest of the basics, whether for winter or summer, I look elsewhere for ethical basic brands.
.1. Organic Basics
Full disclosure, Organic Basics has sent me items for review but at the end of it, I have ended up buying from them as well. I love their tees. The only reason their tees have become unusable for me is because I ended up washing a white tee with a colour which ruined the white (although I plant to re-dye it white which should work). Otherwise their tees don’t lose shape, are not see through and the best thing about them is that they don’t have a label or a tag which itches.
2. Unrecorded
Its really hard to get basic grey sweatpants for women. Trust me. I dare you to find these sweatpants that work for women. Unrecorded has the perfect sweatpants. I am waiting for my current pair of sweatpants to fall apart to get these.
I also really like the bomber – stylishly cropped, two way wear and recycled materials but its an expensive one and I need a better colour. So I will wait for another colour to work. I also appreciate they have sweatshirts without a logo or brand name showing which is not my thing.
3. Colourful Standard
What I like about them is they have physical stores which is a bit of a rarity these days. You can pop into the stores to check the material, the colours and so on. Good basics especially for winter in various colours and materials. They even have biodegradable sunglasses which I really appreciate!
4. Pangaia
Sometimes I do wonder if this store is a myth. Does anyone actually manage to buy anything from them before they are sold out? Who are these people who do manage? Where are they? Do they stay up all night, all day, to bag the perfect sweatshirt? You know how cool their stuff is by the fact I am seriously considering just staying by my computer to buy a sweatshirt. But have you seen these sweatshirts? So chic!
Now they have every kind of clothing you might want – not just sweatshirts. I will report back if I ever manage to grab one. if you manage to get one before I do, please don’t tell me. I will block you.
5. Yes Friends
I know, all ethical brands are so expensive. You can’t pay £60 for a tee. But you can pay £7.99 right? These guys have managed to make cheap ethical tees. Honestly, there is no reason to enter an H&M again.
