I’ve really gotten into dresses lately. They are fun and always make me feel like I’m really dressed up, even if it is a simple shift dress. Which this one obviously isn’t. I’ve had this particular one for a while now, I bought it specifically when I was in my ‘need to buy more colorful clothes’ phase but couldn’t find an appropriate place to wear it to. The cold shoulders part of it seemed quite fun too. It always seems too floral for anything I normally do. Which is usually – go to work, or a coffee shop or the local pub on the weekends. I can’t really picture this dress at any of those places.
Which brings us to where I eventually ended up wearing it. As a blogger sometimes we get invited to some fun events, and on this particular day I was invited to two! By some really weird but very convenient coincidence they were both at same exact venue. One was the new opening of a Nykaa beauty store, and the other was the launch of Splash’s new summer collection. Both being held at the VR Mall. Now if you are familiar with Bangalore you know that this is the only mall in the city that has an H&M store, a Forever 21 and also has a Zara store right next to it. All of which were having sales on said day. I’m assuming you’ve seen my shopping bag post already – yes all of that damage was done on this particular day.
Getting back to my outfit. I knew it was going to be a day filled with makeup and shopping and hanging out with all of my fun and very fashionable blogger friends, and it seemed like the perfect day to go full on girly and bring out the flowers. I decided why not go the extra mile and piled on the pearls too. For some reason, in my head a mint prom dress has to have some pearls added to complete the outfit. The last time I wore these was actually at my wedding, and that was six years ago! So that was definitely some added motivation to wear them again.
Dress from instyledress, Shoes from Zara, Bag from The Tibet Mall, necklaces – all from Calcutta, earrings from Commercial Street, Bangalore
To be honest, when I left home wearing this I was a little afraid it was maybe slightly too costume-y but when I got there, I don’t think I’ve ever had that many people complement me on my outfit before and ask me where I got the dress from. Goes to show I know nothing (like Jon Snow) 😛 I’m probably never going to be a great risk taker when it comes to cutting edge fashion, but I’ve realized its quite fun to try stuff I wouldn’t normally wear once in a while.
