Every Outfit I Wore for the Wedding Season

24 February 2020 · Leave a Comment

You guys already know I was in India for my sister and sister-in-laws weddings. I thought it would be useful to collate all the wedding season guest outfits I wore in one post for anyone interested. Of course, most of the saris are Zari by Fashion and Frappes but for any others, I will be including all the details I can.

Pink lehenga One Pretty Girl wedding season

Some of the pictures may not be the best sadly since some were taken indoors or were taken at night but I want to show you guys every look – even the ones with the bad photos!

Wedding 1 – mehendi

This was at home and I wore a simple silk salwar and churidaar set my mum-in-law had given me. I especially bought the earrings for this outfit so wore them again. The earrings broke which I am super upset about – I really loved the floral pearl and stone designs. (I realise this was a completely useless point to go into since I don’t have any pictures of me actually wearing the earrings with the outfit. Just trust me, they were great).

Wedding 1 – phoolo ka gehna ceremony

You may have seen this dress on Instagram earlier. I love this dress so much and wore it with chunky silver jewellery. The necklace I bought in a street market in Cairo and the earrings are silver jhumkas from Fab India.

You have definitely seen me wear these sandals before. If I were going out I would be wearing black strappy heels with this outfit.

Wedding 1 – court signing and registration

I have had this Zari sari with me for about 8 years now and finally wore it! I had taken it to London when I moved from Bombay with great hopes of wearing it in London for Diwali or some other event. Of course, that never happened. Since the court reception was in the day I thought this would be a perfect sari for the day since its a lovely ombre peach to pink colour. I wore it with a gold blouse.

You might remember this oversized envelope clutch which I love! (Also sorry for this extremely odd photo but I didn’t have any others of the full sari!).

Wedding 1 – cocktail night

This was a Zari sari from sometime ago and I have worn it before. I think its a perfect sari for a cocktail event since the blouse has black sequins. I paired it with a gold sequin bag I got from Rokit Vintage.

Wedding 1 – wedding lunch reception

This was a Zari sari Bidisha made. I would not have picked this colour for myself but Bidisha always has the uncanny ability to know what looks good.

The above two photographs are by Amanpreet Photography. She was also the photographer for our wedding reception and as you can see, her photos are gorgeous.

I paired the sari with a thin pearl headband (from Rokit Vintage) and a pearl necklace borrowed from my mum-in-law which made the look so chic!

This is probably the only long sleeve sari blouse I have since I usually like wearing sleeveless blouses. Again, Bidisha encouraged me to try it (although my main incentive was the fact it was cold in Delhi!).

The lipstick I am wearing is from Too Faced Tutti Frutti collection. They are fantastic – I love the brights colours and will probably be getting more from the same collection.

Wedding 2 – mehendi

The dress I am wearing is from Sezane and its so lovely! Its 100% silk with gold polka dots all over. I got it cut short from the bottom and used the material as a neck tie/ scarf. I need to cut it up properly to use as a belt and scarf.

The shoes I am wearing should also be familiar! I wore them with my Sezane jeans earlier in the year.

Wedding 2 – sangeet and ring ceremony

This was one of the first outfits for the wedding that I had decided on. The skirt was originally a sari which was gorgeous but honestly, I knew there was no way I would end up wearing a pink silk sari anytime soon. I asked Bidisha to make me a skirt like this and a cream raw silk shirt to wear with it. The white shirt and pink skirt was a perfect combination – I wouldn’t have been able to wear the bright pink sari on its own honestly.

Wedding 2 – wedding ceremony

I have already talked about this outfit on Instagram so you already know how much I love it.

The blouse originally came with a sari but I didn’t want to wear a sari. I just felt the setting of the wedding ceremony which was next to the sea (which you can see behind me in this photo) would be more suitable for a simple skirt. And of course, this blouse begged for a simple skirt. Honestly, the skirt was not something thats my style but oddly, I loved it!

The outfit is from One Pretty Girl and I cannot recommend them enough. They literally made me this skirt and altered the top in less than 2 days and did it so well!

MAC Candy Yum Yum lipstick

Sorry about this very strange selfie – I just can’t seem to get a hang of selfies even after all the great tips. The lipstick is MAC Candy Yum Yum (I don’t buy MAC products anymore since it is not cruelty free but I am happy to use the stuff I already have otherwise its just wasteful). I have managed to find some great cruelty free dupes!

Wedding 2 – evening reception

This was probably the original Zari sari! This was the sari I wore for my reception in Delhi six years ago. Its a gorgeous sari (originally it was just a bale of cloth which I got cut out as a sari piece). I love the beading on it. When I saw the beautiful red material in the shop, this sari was already in my head.

Wedding season red lace sari

Originally for my own reception I wore it with a matching red lace blouse. The back of the blouse is lace and its sleeveless. For Bidisha’s reception I decided to pair it with the same black sequin blouse I wore for the cocktail night for wedding no. 1.

So of course I have to ask – which one was your favourite? For me its a tie between the both wedding outfits – either the green sari or the pink lehenga. I love the look I managed to put together with the green sari and loved the drama of the pink lehenga.
