Its weird but black seems to have become a popular colour this summer. I had dismissed the idea. But then its black. I was intrigued. Satarupa uploaded an all black look on Instagram and I started thinking about black in summer.
I decided to try it. But its not as easy as putting on any black dress (in case you think my work here is not important).
Outfit details: black sleeveless cut-out dress, black and pink lace bag from Forever New, black strappy heels and gunmetal bangle from Forever21.
1. It maybe black but it still has to be summery. So definitely no body-con and no full-sleeved black maxis. Short and strappy is preferred, sleeveless may pass. Nothing fussy, simple and easy is best.
2. Jewellery should be minimal.
3. And shoes. The shoes are really important and as little shoe in the shoe, the better (you understand what I am trying to say right?).
4. Keep makeup minimal, light. Lipstick is best light pink or nude – I would definitely steer clear from red lipstick if I am wearing black in summer. Too much. Too heavy.

5. And an adorable bag helps too – although I have to admit there is nothing summery about black lace. Even for clothing, black lace may not be particularly summery. Try black crochet instead.
(I call it my Blair Waldorf bag.)
Hope you have a good black summer!

I feel like if I’m wearing all black, I need to have red lipstick or the outfit isn’t complete. Wearing black in the summer is all about cotton and chiffon for me
Sounds good! But I need to know – is the red lipstick for all outfits or is it only for black outfits for you? I feel red lipstick is your thing – it should definitely continue! Send us some pictures if possible – would love to have a look at your alternative summer black outfit. 🙂
Actually it’s pretty much all outfits I need it 😛 as my ultimate accessory. You got the measure of me by now! Especially, the more neutral tones in an outfit, the more I need to brighten it up. If I were a pink person, I would be whipping out the fuschia. I’ll do a black in summer post soon, if the rain and gloom will let up 😛 Bloody British summer gives us so little to work with
Done. New blog post up on this very subject
