Royal Ascot Day Out and #OOTD

27 June 2016 · Leave a Comment

If you follow us on Facebook you would know I was going for the Royal Ascot races. I was pretty excited about it. I had never gone before. I wouldn’t say I have always wanted to go but I definitely knew I wanted to experience it atleast once.

Its quite a weird Monday in London today so lets have some fun talking about the Royal Ascot!

So here we are! We set out in the afternoon with a picnic basket full of salad and sandwiches. I would advise going early morning or in the afternoon if you want a peaceful train journey to Ascot. If you go late morning the trains are usually very crowded.

Outfit details: pink fascinator from Amazon, white bow top from Coast, skirt (similar) from Reiss boutique in Bandra, heels from H&M, lipstick is MAC Candy-Yum-Yum, belt (very old) is from Forever New, gold oversized clutch is by Sejal Katkoria, picnic basket is from Tiger (not available online) and earrings from Swarovski (similar).

There were flags hung all around the main tent, a band was playing, lots of champagne and wine – its quite a fun, party atmosphere.

Like I mentioned, I had been stressing out quite a bit on what to wear. I kept looking at dresses but honestly, just did not have the budget to spend on one. I ended up going with my favourite colours and the fanciest skirt and top I owned.

I made sure my fascinator and lipstick made up for my very plain outfit!

And now lets me make the most obvious statement – fascinators are very aptly named. They are fascinating. Wearing ridiculous out of proportion flowers (and fruits?) on your head brings immense amount of joy. Let me assure you if I could, I would wear a fascinator everyday. And let me also guarantee that if you are ever in a bad mood, wearing a fascinator is a easy way to get out of your funk. How can anyone be sad wearing that thing? Fascinators have to be Britain’s funnest contribution to fashion. The pictures might tell you I am greatly amused.

I am now looking at these pictures and cringing since my skirt looks so crumpled. Obviously rolling around on the grass did not help matters. 🙁

Thanks to DJ for super fun photos!

I would highly recommend going if you have never gone for the Royal Ascot races. If you missed it this year there are lots of other events happening in London to catch up on. I have posted more pictures from Ascot on Instagram. If you scroll way down on this page you will find a direct link to all our social media pages. Give us a follow and drop us a hi!

Tickets to the Royal Ascot races was provided to Fashion and Frappes by Appletiser UK.
