Summer Style for Men: Tips from Karan Kundra’s Stylist

We are finally taking the plunge. Lets talk men’s fashion. I have been styling Karan Kundra for quite sometime so thought I would share some summer style tips for men right in time for summer.

1. It’s summer. Trousers need not be only black and grey.

Navy blue tee shirt from Tommy, salmon pink trousers from Forever21, white shoes from Zara and sunglasses from Paul Smith.

I understand salmon pink trousers like Karan Kundra might be a bit much if the most radical colour you wear is grey. But consider bright blues in a similar colour to what I am wearing here. Or even lighter grey than the normal charcoal grey you wear to work. Bright red or plain white would be great too. You can wear any of these with a black tee (or a plain white tee if you are wearing colourful trousers) and it would look more interesting than blue jeans and a tee.

2. Blue jeans, white tee – and accessories.

However, if your summer style is blue jeans and a white tee, there needs to be a little more in the way of accessories to make it complete.

Summer style tips for men including accessories may sound odd but a little bit extra is a good touch. Notice the shades, watch and bracelet. (I love the skull bracelets, very McQueen inspired).

Tee and jeans, especially as basic as a white tee and blue jeans needs a little more so pile on the watch, a belt, a cap, shades and so on.

3. Khakis always work. Even for play.

Chinos and khakis need not be restricted to office wear. I personally think khakis are a more convenient choice than thick jeans for summer. The problem with khakis is that it looks a lot more formal than jeans. Of course, unless you wear them like this.

I love this outfit because its so flexible. With a shirt, its good for work. With a tee, its good for the weekend. With a tee underneath the shirt, its good for after work drinks!

4. Replace your blazer. 

I think blazers look too stuffy in the summer. I love these bomber jackets. So fun!

5. Try some prints. 

Summer usually means florals. But most men are not too sure of wearing florals. But being unsure of floral prints doesn’t mean you give up on prints altogether.  Camouflage is an easy way out to wear prints but a little too common right now. An alternative is a print like this on the jacket here – dark colours, not too wild but still interesting.
