I am not a New Year party fan. Its always too much pressure, too much expectation and uncomfortable, boring clothes. I think I wore a black dress for pretty much every New Year party I attended in my teenage years. I really wish I could go back in time and change that – I think that would make me feel a whole lot better about New Year eve parties! A black party dress on New Year’s eve is as cliche as it gets. Even the thought of it depresses me right now. So I beg you to consider this post and chuck the black dress at the back of your closet for the time being.
- Midi Skirts Can Be Party Skirts Too
Outfit details: Silver pleated skirt from Topshop, black cut away crop top from Boohoo, strappy heels from H&M, lipstick is Mac Ruby Woo (link to purchase), statements necklace from Mango and bag from Chanel (similar).
This, of course, depends on the skirt and the styling but midi skirts are my recent favourite. A pleated metallic one like the one I am wearing or a tulle skirt or a ball gownish full skirt all look great and have major impact. I love the fact that we have now reached such a point of time in fashion that mini skirts are boring!
I loved this look from Zara!
2. Suits and Blazers Can Be Fun
I love love love the idea of wearing a tuxedo or a blazer or a whole suit instead of a dress. Androgynous looks are so cool and so easygoing. Wear a fitted solid colour suit, with or without a shirt underneath. If you suit is black make sure you add a bow tie in a bright red or green! Veronica’s outfit here is so so cool!
Another option is to wear a pattern suit – this ASOS one is so fun (similar currently available)!
If you don’t have a suit or want to buy a whole new suit just get a fun blazer like the one below. Wear it with a crop top and loose trousers for an interesting look.
3. Jumpsuits are sleek and sexy.
I have always been a great fan of jumpsuits, along with dungarees and pinafores. They are all easy to wear items of clothing but add immediate interest just because they are not as commonly seen as dresses.
Hope this was fun and gave you some ideas.
This was our last post this year. We will be seeing you in January 2016 with a whole new blog! We are very excited about our new look and only hope you love it as much as we do. Have a very fun, a very safe and a very stylish New Year’s eve. Its going to be a great start to 2016 (I still cannot believe its 2016!). And I can never say this enough – thank you so very much for reading!

I love the idea of a lacy jumpsuit or a blazer and trouser combination. Also love the sheer or lacy hem double layer skirts, I’ve been obsessed with those all year. I’ve seen the jumpsuit and the tulle and metallic midi skirts being thrown across blogs everywhere but while normally i find that a bit samey, I think these are fantastic evening outfit ideas for a reason
Happy you like the ideas! I am now on a mission to wear metallic casually – wish me luck!
G luck. I’m hoping to find something metallic in a swap next time I go, time to really try out this trend
I love all of these! (Especially the metallic floral suit)
Happy New Year
