5 Sneaky Tips on How to Stay Warm While Dressing Chic

7 December 2020 · 2 Comments

I am cold all the time. I do have some medical issues which make me feel cold so thats where the blame lies. So over the years there are some not to chic tricks I have to stay warm. Now I know dressing chic is not a priority for any of us right now. But oddly, when I do get to go out now, even if its for a doctor’s appointment I want to get out of my pyjamas and wear something nice. In all honesty, this is not something I would have ever done in cold weather pre-Covid but dressing nice is something to look forward to right now.

But before we get into that I have some exciting news. I finally gave in and have my own podcast! My friend Dhruv and I have been friends for years and love talking about books and TV and general pop culture so we wanted to take it to the podcast. You can listen to the trailer wherever you get your podcast – its called The Eat Watch and Binge Read Podcast. It might take sometime to get to your favourite podcast service but I promise it will get there! If you are on Spotify you can use this link.

We took these pictures when we went out for DJ’s birthday in October. It was already quite cold so I layered up and layered down. Heres how.

Uniqlo Heattech

This cannot be a surprise – Uniqlo’s Heat-tech range is amazing! For instance, I am wearing a full sleeve Uniqlo heat-tech tee under this dress. Along with the leather jacket this is the exact amount of warmth I needed. I also have sleeveless Uniqlo tees which works at for autumn as well.

Thermal tights

If I had to wear this dress now in December, I would probably pull on thermal tights underneath as well. I actually find wearing skirts and dresses in winter more comfortable than trousers. Tights keep you so warm.

Woollen Socks

Without doubt these are the ugliest socks I have ever seen. But they are so warm.

In winter when wearing boots, I pull on a pair of woollen socks over my tights for some extra coziness. There is nothing cosier than woollen socks – uglier the better.

Heat Patches

This is something I discovered when going to see some fireworks on New Year’s Eve. These are basically stickers you get you can stick on different parts of your body to make you warmer. These are quite targeted so not something to wear whenever you go out for diner but if you have an event planned

The Crazy Blanket Coat

I know – I promised sneaky ways but I am showing you pictures of myself in a crazy coat. I am sorry. But this coat has saved my life the last few winters. It is absolutely ridiculous, makes me look about a 100 feet wide but is its like wearing a blanket.

So my advise to you if get yourself a crazy coat like this. I can wear the crappiest pair of sweatpants but once I put on this coat I am warm and toasty but also super glam. (Probably a little insane too but who cares).
