You know I love black in summer. Honestly, it makes such a statement in bright sunlight. I love the look. And this black backless cross back linen midi dress definitely passes the black in summer rules.
I have been obsessed with backless cross back dresses. And not the Instagram version of obsessed where you vaguely like something. When I saw obsession I mean told everyone I talk about fashion with, asked my sister if she has seen something like this, do online window shopping frantically trying to find something like this.
Even Reformation which is my usual online window shopping haunt some something like this didn’t have it. Warehouse had something similar but I didn’t like the tiered skirt of the dress. I finally found it where I usually find something specific, obscure and beautiful – Etsy. Not only did I not find the dress, the Etsy shop owner even pretty much tailored it to my size and height. As you can see, it now fits me perfectly.
The sandals were a great buy (similar here). They are basically ‘Birkenstock’ style but in leather which I prefer. The hat is an Italian gondolier’s hat. I don’t know why I said Italian gondolier – I mean, thats pretty obvious. Anyway, its not that easy to find these flat top straw hats. I had one a long time ago and lost it. It flew off my head while I was crossing the road and the cars on the road went over it. True story. So I have been hunting for a flat top straw hat for quite sometime. Obviously, I found it in Italy. Chic summer outfits forever!
