It strange but I have a lot of thoughts about and on red lipstick just like Bidisha and Satarupa. Honestly, my end game for wearing make-up was being able to wear and pull off red lipstick. This was the main reason I started wearing make-up or was even interested enough in it. I realised red lipstick is something you probably cannot wear one off – you need to build towards. You can wear kajal, pink lipstick, blush one find day and its ok but that just doesn’t work with red lipstick. So makeup became somewhat interesting.
And why do I love it? I love it because its the perfect makeup – it can be dressed up or dressed down. Fancy event but your dress isn’t fancy enough? Ruby Woo will take it up a notch. Going out for drinks but are not in the mood to dress up – jeans, tee and Ruby Woo will cut it.
It is strange to say that I learnt something from it, but I did. Before starting out with lipstick or even general makeup, I had a specific idea of what I would look like in makeup. I had a particular ‘look’ in mind when I pictured myself wearing red lipstick. The picture was of clear slightly tanned skin and perfectly applied red lipstick. This did not transform to reality – reality was a freckled face with thin lips wearing red lipstick which sometimes got on my teeth. But I loved it. So all of those preconceived ideas about how I would look became irrelevant. And that brings me to my tips for wearing red lipstick:
- Forgot the preconceived ideas of what red lipstick wearing people should look like. Go with what you have.
- If you are using lip liner, please use it all over your lips and not only to outline. This advice is good for all kind of lipstick but especially important for dark lipstick. If your lipstick wears off, in most cases the liner remains which ends up looking really funny. Strictly avoid.

Red Lipstick is definitely a classic look. Not only does it uplift a simple look but its such a bold and feminine choice of colour. I love MAC Ruby woo. I feel its one of the best shades of red that compliments my tone.

I absolutely adore Ruby woo, I stopped by just because the title said red lipstick, I am very fond of red lipsticks. Many girls think it is too bold, but I feel it’s a statement and it is quite safe, you don’t really go wrong with a red lip that often. It was an amazing read, keep it up.
