I have a tattoo on my inner left arm. Did you know? Now you don’t see it too often since, well, London weather. My arms are covered almost the whole year through. I got asked some questions about it after my last post where my arms show so I thought its a fun story to share – why not?

I have always wanted a tattoo. I have no recollection of the first time I thought of it or why I have always thought of it. I also always knew I wanted a ‘literary’ tattoo. But thank god that in the limited wisdom I had as a 25 year old I managed to not to have a Twilight or Sweet Valley High related tattoo permanently inked on my arm. So I chose the next best thing – Shakespeare. I had always locked it away in my mind and thought of it as something that I will do ‘some day’ once I start working and general ‘adulting’.
While I lived in Bombay, probably about 10-11 years ago, a friend of mine wanted a tattoo and asked me to go along with her for moral support. We ended up at this tattoo parlour in Bandra near the promenade so scared and excited. My friend was quite stressed so needed a moment. You can guess how this story ends – I got the tattoo. Instead. To clarify – she still doesn’t have a tattoo and I still make fun of her for it.
I still remember that the guy who drew my tattoo actually didn’t speak English (and as you can see in the photo, my tattoo is in English). He just drew it up like a drawing instead of thinking of it as words or a sentence. I am still amazed how I was totally ok about it and how it could have gone so wrong. I have never regretted my tattoo but have really had to tell myself to no more. Tattoos are addictive!
What is your tattoo story? Have you ever though of getting one? Do you have one and regret it? Have one and thinking about the next one? I love hearing about tattoos and their tattoo stories. Tattoos are such a divisive topic! Even those without one have such strong views about it I love those debates.
Anyway, thats it for now. Sorry about being a day late. I am either in the mood to write a lot of not in the mood to write at all – there is no in between! Also check out my Instagram where I have been trying my hand at Reels. It looks exactly as you would expect a millennial trying out Gen Z social media to look like. Please no judgement! 🙂
