Hitchin Lavender Fields: Photo Diary of our Anniversary Picnic

17 August 2020 · 2 Comments

I actually wanted to go and see some sunflower fields this year since I had already been to lavender fields a few years back. As soon as lockdown was lifted and we were allowed to leave the home, I booked tickets to the Hitchin lavender fields so we could celebrate our anniversary with a picnic near the lavender fields. We later realised the sunflowers were not here in August yet but enjoyed the lavender fields instead. It was lovely.

On our way back we also managed to visit some friends we had not seen for months. It was absolutely the best thing ever. I don’t want to write too much and just want to leave you guys to look at some lovely pictures DJ took.

If you have any questions about visiting the Hitchin lavender fields let me know. You can leave your questions in the post below and of course, on Instagram as well. We went in a car and picnicked near the fields. We took a picnic blanket and food and so on. One thing you should know is due to Covid they now have tickets you need to purchase beforehand for a particular time slot. They only let about 50 people in at a time for about 2 hours so make sure you get the tickets in advance. But even if you want to stay for longer just move to the side lavender fields from the main one and you can continue your picnic there. They remove you from the main fields in order to clean the picnic tables and chairs and so on.

Make sure you check out my Instagram reels of the Hitchin lavender fields. It was a great location to try out reels!

The one thing I would say is make sure you go ASAP. Lavender doesn’t stay for very long. I suspect come September it will probably be gone so if you can make it in August its great.

Hope the photos helped ease the Monday morning blues a little bit. Also please let me know how you all are doing. Are you going outside the home now? And going to your workplace yet? Are you thinking about travelling? Its been a confusing time but would be nice to know everyone’s though process as well. Take care!

Love going to a lavender field in the summer. I made it to the Mayfield lavender fields in Surrey a few times and it’s always a bit of a long way to go there but once I get there I find the fields so therapeutic and the smell is incredible. How easy are the Hitchin fields to access from London?

I definitely think Hitchin is easier to get to. Also Hitchin now has sunflowers blooming so would be a great time to go!
