My Shopping Bag: Forever21

10 December 2014 · 6 Comments

It’s been ages since I went shopping. But when a new Forever 21 store opened up 2 blocks from me, I took that as a sign from the heavens and went for it! It’s one of my favorite stores to shop in. They always seem to have fun new stuff, and most importantly its really affordable.  I very rarely wear anything bodycon or super fitted. I’m way more comfortable in maxi dresses and flowy skirts, but I’ve been thinking about changing it up lately. Wear different clothes, accessorize more, basically just broaden my comfort zone a little bit. That said, I still did not want to go buy some super expensive pieces that I might only wear once and decide I hate it, so Forever 21 seemed perfect.

These are the items I ended up getting. Most are monochrome, and some are black but baby steps guys, baby steps. Im trying 🙂

1. Easy Ponte Midi Dress

This seemed a very safe choice when it came to buying something bodycon. It looks and fits really well. It zips up in the back and for a change I didn’t even need to get it altered. I envision wearing this with my Mango booties that I wore here, and a leather jacket. Or without the jacket with a lot of layered chunky necklaces. It will help with the ‘accessorize more’ bit as well.

2. V-Neck Knit Top

I got these in both black and white. Its just a versatile basic. Though I’ve lost count of how many black/white v-necks I already own, I don’t actually have any with full sleeves. So these seemed like a good decision. At that time. The material is a stretchy fabric, so it doesn’t really bunch up in the arms like its shown in the pictures. I’m quite happy with them actually.

3. Ribbed Pencil Skirt

00067725-04

I’ve been seeing everyone wearing these skirts lately. And now I understand why. They are quite flattering no matter what shape you are. Gives everyone some booty 😛

This is probably my favorite of the lot. I wore it once already with a simple white tee and some stappy blue shoes in the same shade as the skirt. Outfit post coming for that soon! I wanted the top too, but decided that would be too much and probably would never wear it.

4. Scoop Back Bodycon Dress

00138264-01

This was literally the dress I vaguely had in my mind when I went to the store. A black dress – fitted, not too short, nothing too crazy, simple and wearable. Imagine my surprise when I actually found the exact dress! Don’t you love when that happens? 🙂

I plan to wear this with a slouchy oversize cardigan, and some black combat boots. Perfect for winter! Or with some red heels (these ones Anisha wore would be perfect!), and a fitted blazer. Not so perfect for winter but who cares, I’m excited to wear this dress! 🙂

5. Everyday Skinny Jeans

00105849-02

I already have a pair of these jeans, these are my second pair. You know how everyone has that one pair of jeans that are just perfect, and you want to wear it everyday and with everything? These are those jeans for me. They fit perfectly, I love the shade of blue they are and I love them. Did I already say I love them? 😀

In fact now I’m really scared they might stop making these exact ones (that happened to my last favourite pair which were from Levis 🙁 ) so I’m getting backups. Of backups. I might be slightly obsessed with these jeans.

6. Classic Knit Blazer

00056520-04

This was the last thing I got. Pretty basic, not the absolute best fabric for a formal blazer, but it looks great and it fits really well. I have trouble finding blazers that fit me well, especially in the shoulders – I always end up having to get one custom made. So when I saw this I just tried it on thinking its not gonna fit anyway. But it did! And it was a great price as well. Perfect for everyday wear to work.

So that concludes my Forever 21 shopping haul. Hope you enjoyed it, and if you have something similar I would love to know how you style it!

All pictures are from the Forever 21 website. The link to the items are included in their names.

I love this look so much! It’s all in the details, yeah a top but how cool is the marble print?! And oxfords, but not just oxfords, those amazing ones you’re wearing… Stunning look, polished but comfy!
