My resolution to wear more colour this year (also every year since I started picking out my own outfits) is going really well. To that effect, I have now acquired this adorably tiny red bag that can make even the most basic outfit look a million times better. And more importantly, add some much needed colour. I feel like I say that a lot.
This outfit is special for another reason as well. Over the last year or so I’ve found myself only ever wanting to wear loose and baggy clothes. Though I’ve always loved comfortable clothing and will continue to do so no matter what, I used to be able to confidently wear more fitted outfits as well. That confidence has somehow completely disappeared over the last year as I’ve gotten curvier. To the point that I can’t even try on dresses or tops that aren’t completely baggy and loose fitting in trial rooms any more. Which is ridiculous and was causing me a lot of stress for no good reason. So over the last couple of months I’ve decided to get a grip, stop this nonsense and make some changes. I’ve started working out, am trying to eat healthier meals, and I made my self go shopping and buy some clothes that actually fit. This bodysuit is one of those things.
Body image is no joke. I’m sure everyone has concerns about how they look and would like to change a few things. That’s actually great, and can motivate you to work harder and get fitter. But when it gets to the point that thats all you focus on, then its a problem. Which is what it kinda got for me. I hate the thought of not being able to do something, I am super competitive even with myself 😛 So just the fact that I had gotten to the point that I felt like I absolutely could not wear certain things, helped me snap out of it. If that makes any sense. I’m no where near where I want to be, but that’s not really the point. I want to be comfortable, and be able to relax in whatever I’m wearing. And be able to wear anything I fancy 🙂
Okay I think thats enough real talk for now. Let me know if you have ever gone through something similar? And what did you do to get through it?
I hope you enjoyed the post. This one got a little personal for me, hope thats okay. I’m hoping putting it out there will help me (and maybe others) stick to the plan and keep working towards my goals. Have you been checking out our Instagram stories?
