I don’t want to promise this raves, rants and reviews posts are going to be a ongoing series. I have learnt from my previous mistakes. Every time I make dramatic announcements about how I a particular blog post is going to be a series, I promptly forget to post about it ever again. But yes, I hope for this to be a series but only if I actually have interesting things to rave, rant and review. I don’t want it to be forced. But I have a fun set to start off with!
Rave: Ffern Perfumes
A little bit of my perfume history. My favourite perfumes are were Diptique. I have used Diptique Doson for the last few years – I am probably on my third or fourth big bottle. I bought my last bottle when in Paris a few years ago. It is an amazingly gorgeous smell. Sadly, Diptique is not cruelty free. So once I moved to being cruelty free I knew I needed another perfume once this bottle was used up.
I want to state I have 2 bottles of Diptique still left (as you can see in the photo). DJ passed me the one he had as well – I think he moved on to his Tom Ford. So I had no real reason to buy any new perfume right away. I found Ffern thorugh an Instagram or Facebook advertisement and started researching the company, checking for reviews and so on. Their website is grogeous, the product sounds beautiful, the story is delightful. I was completely sucked in. It is vegan, cruelty free and all of the other good stuff.
Now just to caution – I haven’t yet received the perfume. I will be receiving a sample and a full bottle in a few weeks time. I check the sample and if I like the sample I keep the bottle otherwise send it back.
Rant: How Do You Like Me Now? by Holly Bourne
I have so many thoughts on this book. I read it in 2 days flat. You remember I had heard about it on the High Low podcast and ordered it. Most of their book recommendations work pretty spot on for me. Then I read a Facebook book post on some group by a woman pretty much dismissing this as pointless ‘chick-lit’ and I was so disappointed. Then I actually read the book.

Now I am so angry about every book about a woman and her life being dismissed as chick-lit. And the sad part about this is its us women doing it. Back to the book – I would highly recommend if you are a woman in your thirties or even late twenties. I think its very comically intense. It brings out a lot of home truths in a funny way and I really really enjoyed it.
Review: Melissa Wood Health workouts
Now technically this isn’t wholly from this month since I have been doing this at least a month now, if not longer. In the beginning few months of lockdown I was doing a lot of free workouts especially HIIT. But just doing some research and reading a lot of people’s experiences and so on, made me reconsider this daily HIIT workout. Of course, this might totally work for you and more power to me. But for me personally, I felt this kind of a workout was not really a long-term prospect. I am concerned how good it for my knees and joints and so on when growing older. It was just intense and I felt although it got me exhausted, it didn’t make me feel stronger.

I pay a very nominal fee (its about £12 per month) and do her workouts at home. A lot of her videos are less than 30 minutes long so extremely doable. I also like the fact she has a weekly schedule so I don’t waste time figuring out what to do that day. And no jumping!

I hope you guys enjoyed this quick raves, rants and reviews post and hope there will be more of these! I was also wondering if you guys would be interested in a Facebook group to discuss travel, career, makeup, beauty, fashion and life itself? I received a lot of positive votes for this on Instagram so thats my project for now – starting this Facebook group! In the meantime do check out our page on Facebook.
