Or rather, what does the term ‘boho’ mean to you? I’ve seen people wear everything from feathers to vintage lace and it all somehow falls under the umbrella of ‘Bohemian’. And don’t even get me started on the whole Coachella thing. It can seem a tad like borderline cultural appropriation at times. It doesn’t really have to be something made out of feathers or tassels to be called boho I’m sure. It can be done without going insane and looking like a peacock. The rule of thumb always should be if more than one item of clothing or accessory you’re wearing has feathers attached to it, then you’ve already gone too far 😀
So since it seems pretty impossible(at least to me) to correctly define the term, it made ‘Boho’ the perfect theme for our latest version of Take 3! Where the three of us pick a theme and style an outfit around it. We didn’t really discuss our outfits in advance at all, in fact the first time we saw all 3 looks together was while writing this post.
The thing I most enjoy about this is that we each picked one thing that we though would be considered Boho, and styled it with other regular things. Anisha and I (Satarupa) picked skirts, while Bidisha picked a boho top.
I picked up this skirt from a flea market in Goa. I’ve worn it so much already its literally falling apart. One of my go to (read: laziest) ways of wearing anything colorful is always pairing it with something nude or black. I’ve worn this skirt more times with my black bodysuit than I can count. That’s why I was super glad that I chose to wear it with a vintage t-shirt this time around. When you scroll down to Anisha’s pictures you’ll see why.
Anisha picked up her skirt from Jaipur. She was traveling with a group of friends, and they loved it so much 3 of them picked up the same skirt in 3 different colors! She had to improvise a bit to wear in London weather and I love how she styled it.
Bidisha’s look is one that I can wear most comfortably. Her top is perfect for summer, and I love that necklace! Also her unparalleled ability to incorporate multiple shades of pink in any outfit never ceases to amaze me 😀
Okay, now come the pictures. Enjoy!
