In keeping with our summer favourites series I thought it would be fun to do one on the summer fashion trends we have been loving so far. Its August now so I though it was high time to do a summer related fashion post. I am not someone who follows these trends very closely, I pretty much wear what I like at all times irrespective of whether or not its ‘trendy’ for the season. It’s all about having fun, and creating your own version of it. And honestly some of these trends sometimes seem really absurd to me. Now that said, its always good to have a summer uniform or a summer outfit formulas to follow as a guide. This would be similar to our summer wardrobe challenge posts which was the reason we started our blog!

So here are summer outfit formulas you can follow which should make dressing this summer a little more fun. Let me start with my personal favorite.
- Crop tops
Crop tops get a bad rep but honestly, I find them so easy to wear. You know I love black for summer but if its a cropped black top it automatically looks more summary than anything black otherwise would. You remember my black cropped top outfit.
If you feel its too revealing, do as Satarupa did and pair with a long skirt which is the perfect balance for the outfit.
Everyone been rocking crop tops recently and with good reason! Apart from the obvious benefits of the crop during summer, it also really easy to style and can be paired a hundred different ways, can also be dressed up or down as you choose.
- Jumpsuits and dungarees
I have always been a fan of dungarees and jumpsuits. This is a difficult one to start wearing but I promise you its so easy to continue wearing!
Jumpsuits and dungarees have been everywhere this year. There are so many different styles to choose from that you are bound to find one that works for you. Its also something that you and continue wearing into Fall/Winter, it makes a great transition piece.
- Co-ordinates
This one is a trend that we love! Coordinates look so chic and effortlessly styled. And its great as you can wear the pieces separately as different outfits as well. And honestly, you don’t actually need to go buy a new outfit to wear this style – see our tips on how to manage a coordinated outfit without actually buying one.
You know I love this trend and tried it out. Anisha recently did a post on a really cool white set that looked amazing on her and a checked set as well.
- Monochrome
This one is a personal favorite. To me a monochrome outfit is the easiest to pull off and ends up looking really polished most of the time. Especially when you mix different textures, looks minimalistic and yet very chic. Just ensure you follow some basic guidelines on wearing monochrome and you will be able to pull it off.

- Denim on denim
This one I wasn’t quite a fan of initially but after seeing the amazingly cool looks that everyone has been putting together I have come around. Also it looks so fun and retro! Maybe not suitable at the height of summer, but definitely wearable when its starts to cool off a little or you can try it with the lighter denims or denim shorts.

Hope you enjoyed our favourite summer outfit formulas. If you have some other ideas for a outfit, please comment so we can try it out. Also if you do wear similar outfits please send us your pictures or tag us on Instagram – we would love to see your photos.

Denim on denim has always been a trend. I haven’t done it though. And not too comfortable with jumpsuits too. But j like coordinates and monochrome. Loved the looks. Own real visuals make all the difference. Great one. Xx

I think with denim on denim you need to mix two different colours and maybe even textures. But definitely worth trying!
