Its always nice to look back on the year to see how much you have managed to travel. Now this was especially important to me since all my travel plans for the year are done with so I only have pictures to look forward to for now. If you don’t follow me on Instagram you should – I have posted a lot of these stories earlier in the year and thought it would be a good idea to put this into the form of a proper post. I hope you guys enjoy it and it gives you some travel ideas. I plan to do some more of these posts to round up the year!
The year started with me going home to India and thats always so fun with so much to look forward to. I am already really looking forward to my next trip to India which is of course, going to be even more special since Bidisha is getting married! I just cannot wait for the next one.
We also ended up in Helsinki for a weekend and we had a lovely time walking around and looking at the fancy design stores. Remember this dress I got as well?
You may remember my new year resolution about travelling in the UK. Sadly, as expected I didn’t end up finishing everything on my bucket list but I did manage to get to Dorset. (I was actually wondering if I should do a post on it and I still might). DJ and I also went cycling to Whitstable one day which was fantastic to start out with and extremely cold at the end of it due to the hail storm!
One of my most memorable trips this year was definitely my trip to Athens, especially since we went to see friends there.
Athens is such a relaxed city – it felt like a real vacation. It was also quite stress free for us notwithstanding the language since we had friends there who took us around everywhere!
Our trip to Slovakia was originally meant to be a hiking trip like I mentioned in my post but sadly, it didnt work out like that because of the bad weather we had.
I’ll be honest, I don’t think I would visit Bratisalava again but would really love to see the country side of Slovakia. From what I can see in the pictures, it looks beautiful.
We went to Bologna and Venice with family in June. Seeing the state of Venice now is so sad. I had genuinely wanted to go back to the city in the winter to see more of it without the crowds. Now I wonder if I will have a chance to go back.
The last trip of the year was DJ and my bumper trip of 2019. I haven’t written too much about the trip itself. I have mostly concentrated on my preparation for the trip, the stores I visited and of course, shopping half price Chanel. But this trip was a lot of fun. We met a lot of old friends and had a proper holiday. There was some sight seeing we did but honestly, living in London there is so much of the New York sight seeing you can just skip.
Our priority was food, shopping and meeting friends with a little bit of historical sightseeing like visiting the State of Liberty. We basically wanted to do anything we would not enjoy in London. We skipped the musicals and shows because honestly, we have seen so much of it in London it didn’t make sense spending our time in New York seeing that. The one thing we made sure to see was the 9/11 memorial. This was of course, harrowing but so important to see and experience. I am glad we did that.
It was such a relaxed, fun, stress free holiday it totally refreshed us!

Loved both Canterbury and Whitstable – and I want to visit again! Travelling more in the UK was one of the New Year resolutions!

Venice is lovely but it has such a different vibe when crowded. I wanted to see it in the autumn – really hope both of us make it again!

Wow, what a well travelled year you have had! We’ve travelled a bit but mainly around the UK – we only headed out of the country once.
I have really tried to travel in the UK as well and managed to travel a little. I don’t drive or have a car so thats something that deters us from travelling in the UK since it gets quite difficult! I am getting my license so hopefully next year we will travel a lot in the UK!
Oh my goodness what an incredible year! I would love to visit Finland. I lived in Denmark for a year and I wish I had had the chance to visit more of Scandinavia
Oh thank you! I am sure you will get to Finland eventually. Honestly, it feels like Scandinavia is easy to travel through but hey are big countries and with so much to see! I hope to go back!
Helsinki is on my bucket list for 2020. I have heard the food scene is really diverse and apparently the locals play a big part in their tourism strategy, which I find so interesting.
We had really nice food in Helsinki and I love their coffee and cinnamon bun in the evening ritual. So cosy!

Wow, these are some great travel destinations! You are so lucky to be able to visit these places. New York is definitely on my travel list for 2020, hopefully in February!

It sounds like you’ve had an amazing name! We’ve ticked a few bucket list places off our list this year but we’ve added loads more!
