I know, I know. I promised so much and delivered so little! I have so many more New York related blog posts I need to write but this was is a not going to be one of those. This is going to a quick post about my new Sandro cardigan and some tips on how to shop less since I have been really busy with some other things. All will be explained in good time!
So why did I buy a new cardigan? I made sure I went through all the steps to avoid a new purchase – this can give you guys some anti-shopping tips as well!

Delay, delay, delay
I think I saw this Sandro cardigan when it first came out as a part of the autumn collection probably in July. I saw it come in, resisted the temptation and decided that I will be shopping a lot in New York so didn’t buy it. Then I went to New York and didn’t buy too much so started looking at it again once I was back in London. Kept looking. Kept looking. Then it went out of stock. And I cried. On DJ’s shoulder. Kept crying. Then DJ threatened to kill me if I whined about the cardigan again. So I bought it. Basically I needed to buy this Sandro cardigan to save my life. Thats how I am selling this.

2. Be clear about why you want the item and if the item actually ticks the boxes for why you need it
So the reason I bought it was that I am always cold. I am never not wearing at least 2 layers. And I kept seeing one my pictures from New York and older pictures where I was wearing this holey black jumper (which I love since it’s actually super comfortable but its long past its respectability date). And I was convinced I need a fancy, good quality, chic and fashionable cardigan. This Sandro cardigan ticked all the boxes for me. The only con was that it has a little bit of polyester so that’s a compromise I had to make.

3. Make sure you can wear it in many ways for many seasons
As you can see I have already worn the cardigan a couple of times. Between now and beginning of November is the most wear I will get out it. I also know I can wear it underneath my coat once it gets really cold. In summer I can wear it over with shorts and a tee. So I am really looking forward to it!

Outfit details: white tee (worn and similar), cardigan, gold hardware belt (worn and similar), Chelsea boots and bag (worn).
4. Get the best price possible
The cardigan is from Sandro but I looked at almost every store selling the item to see the best price I could get on it. I checked Selfridges, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and of course, the own brand Sandro store. I also checked the online stores like My Theresa, Farfetch and so on. Also when you check the price see if you can get any loyalty points for it. For instance, Selfridges doesn’t have a loyalty card so if the same item is available in Harrods I always make sure to buy from there so at least I get the points for it even if the price is the same. Anyway, I realised with a 10% discount for subscribing to the newsletter I could get the cardigan cheapest from Farfetch so I ordered it from there. (Guys, please don’t be mad at me but it’s now sold out on the Farfetch site so you will need to get this from the Sandro site).

Now about the blog. I don’t know if you guys have noticed this but I recently realised there was som weird stuff going on the blog. There was some malware and I was getting redirected to other websites and some app stores while clicking on links on the blog. Some friends mentioned having trouble as well. So long story short I am now switching my blog hosting to another company which is fantastic. It has great service, co-owned by a woman, is a small business and they plant a tree for you every year – how lovely does that sound? So I have been a little busy with all of this stuff although most of the heavy lifting is being done by my new hosting company, Lyrical Host. If you want a 10% discount please use the code FASHIONANDFRAPPES10 for some stress free hosting.

Outfit details: midi dress (worn and similar), cardigan, gold hardware belt (worn and similar), Chelsea boots and bag (worn).

Hope you guys enjoyed the post as much as I am enjoying my new cardigan. Ok, ok, I realise I completely tricked you guys into not shopping and went shopping myself but honestly I don’t really feel guilty shopping anymore. Even though I have recently bought some items it’s after such a long time and after so much consideration it actually makes me feel good about it.
You can see some of my New York posts on the blog and on Instagram. I also have some useful highlights in my Zero Waste highlights section on Instagram so check that out.
